Trust and Traceability – Building an Information Architecture with SAP #PowerDesigner

Here’s a date for your diary – on February 5th, Sandhill Consultants will present a webinar aimed at those of you who want to know about building an Information Architecture in PowerDesigner.

The webinar will introduce three key approaches to moving beyond data modeling with SAP PowerDesigner that will allow you to trace your data lineage and analyze impacts on other systems, such as Data Warehousing, Transactional, ERP, COTS, among others.

• Reconciling disparate data systems
• Reduce data complexity via data modeling
• Reuse data assets

Sandhill Consultants are PD resellers in North America, and I’m happy to say that I help them to provide PD services and training.

#PowerDesigner users- save $$, pre-register for ISUG-TECH 2015, and tell them what you want to see presented

I attended ISUG-TECH in Atlanta for the first time last year, and I think it was the first time they’d had a dedicated track for PowerDesigner. All of the PowerDesigner sessions were well attended, and I know there were some conference attendees (like me) who were only really interested in PowerDesigner. Most of the PowerDesigner speakers (like me, again) and some of the attendees weren’t from the USA, so there was a great international atmosphere.

It would be fantastic if we could expand that experience to more sessions and more people – where else will you find a whole week of PowerDesigner sessions, where else can you meet people facing the same issues as you do, whatever the type of modelling you do in PowerDesigner?

For 2015, they’ve decided to allow people to pre-register for the conference, which gives you $200 discount if you decide to actually attend the conference; you’ll also be able to have your say about what you’d like to see. Here’s what Mike Harrold, Executive Director of ISUG-TECH says about it:

“Pre-registration gives us an opportunity to solicit input from the community about which topics they want to see covered during the technical break-out sessions at the conference, which is important to both ISUG-TECH and the community to ensure the best possible content at the conference. There is absolutely no cost to pre-register and in return we’re extending a $200 discount to all those that do pre-register which can be applied to their actual registration fee later this year.”

Enhancement request process for SAP #PowerDesigner, via @ISUG (part 1)

The Independent SAP Technical User Group (ISUG-TECH) have re-opened the PowerDesigner enhancement forum, which allows you to submit and VOTE FOR enhancements to PowerDesigner. This is the place to submit them if you want your request to be visible, and you want to get other users to back you up. Once voting is closed, I’ll be responsible for bundling them up and passing them on to SAP.

Enhancement Requests can be raised at http://my.isug.com/p/is/ty/type=14. You can become a member for free, so basically anyone can raise and view enhancement requests, though you need to be a paid-up member to vote on requests. If you’re a member of a local SAP user group, you may already be a member of ISUG.

In this post, I’m going to outline the process for you, and I’ll follow up with a more detailed look at the information you need to supply for each new request.

Here’s a quick guide to raising an enhancement request.

  • Join ISUG – see my.isug.com – log in to the web site
  • Select ‘Enhancements’

  • Read about the voting process

  • scroll down, and select the PowerDesigner list

It’s that time of the year again – please suggest topics for the #PowerDesigner SIG at EDW

I’m moderating the PowerDesigner SIG at EDW in Austin next week. As usual, we already have a number of topics we think people will want to discuss, but we want the bulk of the content to come from you, so please let me know what you want to talk about, either via the Linked In Group, SCN, or by emailing me – George.McGeachie@MetadataMatters.com.

Submit your #PowerDesigner enhancements via #ISUG, then we can all vote on them

The Independent SAP Technical User Group is an independent association that represents and supports thousands of technical users of SAP products in more than sixty countries around the world. They have re-opened their PowerDesigner enhancement forum, which allows you to submit and VOTE FOR enhancements to PowerDesigner. This is the place to submit them if you want your request to be visible, and you want to get other users to back you up.

Follow this link to get to the forum – http://my.isug.com/p/is/ty/type=14 (ISUG members only, I think)
